The Coastal Players Tour exists to provide professional golfers and high level amateurs a place to develop their skills and gain competitive experience at a reasonable cost.
The Coastal Players Tour was founded in 2012 in the Myrtle Beach area of South Carolina. For the first 4 years, events were conducted on the weekends at premium courses along the Grand Strand and surrounding areas. Participation grew over those years and reached a high of 68 players at an event held at Myrtle Beach National.
In 2016 the Coastal Players Tour expanded to the Raleigh and Pinehurst areas of North Carolina. The Tour rotated its schedule from South Carolina one week to North Carolina the next and added 4 “Majors” to the schedule. Other changes in 2016 included bringing Srixon on board as a title sponsor, adding a season long points race, as well as adding a membership which included equipment discounts among other benefits. 2016 concluded with the first ever Coastal Players Tour “Tour Championship” at the Donald Ross gems of Pine Needles and Mid Pines in Southern Pines, NC. 2017 introduced an official money list, larger purses with guaranteed first place prizes, and 3 day majors and wrapped up with an awesome Tour Championship at Scotch Hall Preserve.
Over the 5 years of its existence, several players have used the Coastal Players Tour as a stepping stone in their career as a professional golfer. Grayson Murray, a CPT winner in 2015, was a champion during the Web.com finals in 2016 and earned his PGA Tour card for the 2016-2017 season. Roberto Diaz is entering his 4th season on the Web.com Tour in 2017. Jake Scott advanced to the Web.com Tour in 2015 and Zack Byrd earned a full exemption on the Mackenzie Tour of Canada also in 2015. Dalton Ward qualified for the 2015 Wyndham Championship and Dan Obremski fired a course record 62 to qualify for the 2014 Greenbrier Classic. These are just a few of the many success stories from former and current players on the Coastal Players Tour.
